Who doesn't appreciate clean, shiny tile floors or wood floors that sparkle after a thorough mopping? However, if you have young children or pets, you might hesitate to let them crawl on floors recently cleaned with chemical products. Fortunately, this doesn't mean you have to settle for floors that aren't perfectly clean, nor does it make things more difficult. Here's a recipe for homemade, natural floor cleaners that you can easily create using ingredients likely found in your own pantry.

Basic Floor Cleaner

This floor cleaner is effective on all types of floors, including sealed wood, tile, laminate, and linoleum, for routine cleaning. It's incredibly easy to use. Just combine equal parts of white vinegar and hot water, then mop. There's no need to rinse, and the vinegar odor will disappear once the floors are dry (we promise!). The vinegar serves as a gentle disinfectant and gives the floors a pleasant shine.

Before you reach for the vinegar bottle, stop and take a look at your tiles. We need to talk about something very important: you must consider the type of material you have. If you have natural stone tiles, such as travertine, marble, or limestone floor tiles, DO NOT use vinegar or lemon juice.
